This is a real parasite, in a real host.

Howardula aoronymphium is a nematode that infects Drosophila. The female pierces the cuticle of the larva and settles in the hemolymph. She grows as the fly grows. When the adult emerges, she is already full size, and she sheds juveniles inside it. Infected females stop producing mature oocytes. They go sterile. They die younger.

None of that is invented. It has been in the literature for decades. What is new is that you can watch it, and that the market moves it.

A parasite needs the host alive.

The worm is the holders. The host is the market. Buying makes the worm stronger. Selling weakens it. And if the market dies, they both die together.

Volume is taken as a square root, so a single whale cannot own the organism. Death needs a sustained decline, not a wick. A network failure never kills the host.

The wiring is loaded in full: 2,709,955 connections, thresholded at 5 synapses per neuron pair, which is the FlyWire Codex default. Sign comes from the predicted neurotransmitter: acetylcholine excitatory, GABA and glutamate inhibitory.

Where the host brain is today. Every neuron you see is real and in its real place, and the full connectome is sitting in your browser. But the activity you are watching is driven per brain super class, not yet neuron by neuron. The full leaky integrate and fire pass over all 2.7 million connections goes on the GPU next, and this paragraph changes the day it ships. The parasite, below, is already the real thing.

Where we are honest

Howardula has no published connectome. Nobody has mapped it. The nematode nervous system that exists is C. elegans, the model organism of the phylum, and that is what runs here as the parasite. We could have not told you.
