Howardula aoronymphium is a nematode that infects Drosophila. The female pierces the cuticle of the larva and settles in the hemolymph. She grows as the fly grows. When the adult emerges, she is already full size, and she sheds juveniles inside it. Infected females stop producing mature oocytes. They go sterile. They die younger.
None of that is invented. It has been in the literature for decades. What is new is that you can watch it, and that the market moves it.
The worm is the holders. The host is the market. Buying makes the worm stronger. Selling weakens it. And if the market dies, they both die together.

Volume is taken as a square root, so a single whale cannot own the organism. Death needs a sustained decline, not a wick. A network failure never kills the host.
